So I thought I'd start this blog off right with a GIFT to my readers... this is my very first Give Away.... I am so in love with this book that I am going to feature it in my September Book Review and give YOU a chance to get your own copy! One morning in July I just had the erge to contact Dr. Lawrence Cohen (who emailed me back immediately and was sooo nice) to tell him about how much I was loving it. I was able to get signed copy of his book...to GIVE AWAY to a lucky reader...
So here's the deal...in order to be in the running to get this AMAZING book...you must: Follow this blog (see under the followers tab) and leave a comment telling me a favorite playful memory of being a kid.
Mine: Twirling in my favorite purple dress that was five sizes to big for me. I never wanted to take it off.
xoxo,
Done, done and done. I don't have kiddies yet...but even still, it would be such a great gift to give, or just to keep for when I do have little ones. AND, I had a flood of memories come to my mind recently as I drove past my grandma's old house. I could see us as kids playing of the roof of the house where all the clothes would hang out to dry. I didn't realize until then how much I loved to play at my grandma's house. I made me miss those days.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad used to play backyard games with us when we were kids, all the neighbors would come running over when they saw my Dad "Mr Rogers" come out to play. He was a neighborhood celebrity! Red Rover, Brittish Bulldog, Red Light Green Light, No Bears are out Tonight... Makes me wish I could be a kid again..
ReplyDeleteHey cristi cooool blog. The first memory that came to mind was dancing with my sisters and mom in the front room after sunday church. Sweet moves. Loud music. Fun.
ReplyDeleteA favorite memory - going to the tree house with my sisters and imagining that we were all ophans with super powers. I was lucky to have so many wonderful playmates.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Lisa on the tree house/super powers game. But another favorite was playing Little House on the Prairie. We were HUGE Barbie fans, Too.
ReplyDeleteCute blog! I remember climbing on the roof of our garage and making it my secret hideout (I think my mom had no idea) and I'd doodle or write up there. Best of all my brothers and sisters couldn't follow me up there.
ReplyDeleteYeah the tree house and Little House on the Prairie were the best! I also remember this game we played with my dad. He'd crawl around the living room trying to grab us as we we jumped on and of the base (the couch). I loved it!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory is from the summer I was seven. My brother and sister and I spent the summer on our grandparents' farm in Colorado. My brother and I found a big empty patch of dirt and started digging a hole to China. In my mind, we worked day after day for weeks on end, but I'm not sure if that was actually the case. After a while we realized we didn't have the energy to dig quite that far, so we started making plans to turn our pit into a community swimming pool. Even after we flew home to Virginia, we would spend hours talking about our plans for that hole.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I definitely remember playing lots when I was a kid - mostly outside, especially during the summers. My younger brother and I would build really elaborate "forts" in the sagebrush near our house, and we'd go so far as to make "pretend" bonfires and eat uncooked s'mores for lunch! I don't think anything could compare to summers when you're a kid!
ReplyDeleteI love the perspective you share. :) The theme of your blog reminds me of running around in my yard picking dandelions and making garlands and bracelets and crowns and feeling like a princess wearing them. I never understood why people thought dandelions were a weed not a flower!

ReplyDeleteI love these! Keep em coming. Today I was thinking about the time when I was little and we used do lemonade stands and trie to sell mud balls as pastries... those weren't our biggest sellers... not sure why.
Excited to follow your blog... Of my favorite memories was wearing my mom's wig (not sure why she had it- she never wore it) and high heels around the house and playing "grown up". I loved to flip the long hair behind my shoulders. Haha, I did that for hours!! Robyn M.
ReplyDeleteI looooved paper dolls as a little girl. I had a really beautiful set and was so careful with their clothes.
ReplyDeleteAlso loved Fashion Plates sketch thingies. Know what I'm talking about? Basically, I liked some help with my imagination ;)
I remember wearing my big fluffy slip around the house and to the neighbors because I thought it looked like a tu-tu. I danced for hours in the living room while my mom played "The Spinning Wheel" on the piano.
ReplyDeletejumping on my mom's king size bed like a trampoline was listening to rad music.
ReplyDeletesaltando en la cama de mi mama como si fuera un trampolin mientras escuchaba musica.
ReplyDeleteI'm too late fir the drawing, but I'll share anyway. I'm up at 6am on a quiet Saturday morning with a child so it's a good time for me to reflect on my childhood. My best friend had a doll with roller skates so we would put our awesome roller skates on and skate around the neighborhood with this little doll. This brought a lot if giggling and a lot if fun. My friend could make me laugh so hard. We should continue our lives laughing every day. It is good for us!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for posting! Winner will be announced soon.
