Weeds and Wishes of this Summer.

I haven't been around lately...

obviously

The past several months have been filled with much joy and much sorrow.
Wishes and Weeds right? Life is full of both.

The Wishes: birth of my baby boy, spending time with family in california for a wedding, watching my sister get married, spending carefree summer days outside, saying goodbye to my job .

The Weeds: Loosing my darling niece Ivory who was born three months early, knowing that my brother and sister-in-law had to experience such a loss, having to say goodbye to my family after spending several weeks together, dropping Little Man off to his first day of preschool, saying goodbye to my job.

For some reason I haven't been able to bring myself to the computer to write. I can't decide if I am just not feeling inspired-

or just tired.

(What mom is not tired?)

No-I think I just would rather be snuggling my babies.

So I think I will.

besitos,

P.S. I noticed I have a lot of inquires about my visual schedule and chore charts printables- I will get back to you as soon as possible. If you don't hear from me- email me. (again)

This couch...some may see a weed- I see a wish.

I am over here today on How Does She revealing my office makeover using the Chip it program from Sherwin-Williams. If you don't know what that is- check out this post here.
This is the color scheme I decided to get inspiration from to make over my ugly boring office.

...And it all started with this guy.

This is was the first thing to enter into my new space. I adopted this fabulous piece from a local antique market for a great deal...well that is because it needed A LOT of work.

I have to admit to you that when Mister saw this couch...he pretty much told me it was a lemon and to just scrap it. He didn't think that it was worth the hassle and money of repairing. Not really what I was hoping to hear...but I then reminded him of his love for old vintage cars- one in particular that is taking up space in our garage and only been driven a handful of times.

He never said another word about the couch again.

There as no way I was going to give up on this little couch... although I have to admit- he was right... it needed a lot of work... and possibly money. When we took a look at the inside frame- it was still in it's original padding... which looked to me like a nest of nasty hair pulled out of a drain. Sorry... gross... moving on.

Oh and the fabric was the hardest part...I searched and searched for a fabric that was actually in stock (I had only a week to find what I needed) and just as I was about to give up- I found this.  Little did I know that birds would be a huge theme in this room- I'll explain in another post.

Tada- Here is the couch finished thanks to Best Upholstery. I was happy to see the colors from my color pallet coming together.

I moved my desk and placed the couch in this corner close to the natural light. I envision myself curling up to read.

Relief. It's done. And despite what the mister says...I love it.

xo besitos,

Weed and Wish

TODAY'S WEED:
Having little man lock us out of my counseling office with my car keys, camera, and everything else left inside.

 TODAY'S WISH:
Spending a beautiful Fall afternoon outside with little man in the leaves while we waited to have my landlord let us in.

Music Monday...sorta.

It's been one of those Mondays...nothing went as planned.

I stayed up late skyping and editing Bianca's Album cover (which I am totally excited about)...then...

just as I shut my eyes...Little Man awoke crying... not just any old cry but the "help me" scream...

he had a fever...

we were up most of the night...

it was hard to peel myself off the floor of his bedroom (where we both FINALLY fell asleep) this morning.

Then, thinking it was Tuesdsay this morning I frantically (with Little Man screeching  in the background) dialed my supervisor at the Hospital to tell her I was unable to make it to supervision...
she responded very confused:

"Do you normally work on Mondays?"...

Um it's not Tuesday?? Crap.

Then in her nurturing voice she responded:

"You sound like a mommy who could use some sleep hun...don't worry about tomorrow."

That obvious huh?

But it was then that I realized that I WAS scheduled for supervision... but with my Play Therapy supervisor who I had no way of contacting...so, I bolted out the door leaving Dar with a very grumpy child (and what I hear was a horrifying diaper) ...um can't thank you enough Dar!

Needless to say...I am tired.

So where is Music Monday you ask...

well...oddly enough a similar craziness happened to Bianca... starting with staying up until 4 in the morning finalizing the album cover (the project we both thought would take 20 minutes max)...

then, she was just about to send her her music Monday song over...when I received a text saying:

"I had to go to the hospital with a neighbor...will do video later though."

"What? are you okay?" I responded...but don't worry she is fine. I'll get more details later.

So, this is Music Monday... I am putting some Music FOR MOMMIES who have had a rough morning and need to hop in a bubble bath and relax while listening to her soothing voice. Seriously...go do it...

In raiding Bianca's YouTube videos- I came across this one that I had never seen before of her recording in the studio... I can't wait for her new album!!!

Life is so unpredictable.
You never know what weed or wish will come your way.

Let us know B how it went!

Besitos, xoxo

Weed & Wish Wednesday

I heart HOT Breakfasts. I have been wanting to make more hot breakfasts for my family...the only problem is... it requires waking up a tad too early for this not-so-morning mama... but today I thought I would start giving it a whirl. German Pancakes for little toddlers are a great way for them to practice using a fork because it easy (and its a good way to get some protein too) ...and it's buttery delicious.

Only thing is I made the first batch with rancid expired milk... gross.

Weed of the day:
Making a batch of German Pancakes to find out that I made it with rotten milk and had to quickly whip up a new batch with a  grumpy hungry toddler in my arms.
expired.

new batch and old batch.

Wish of the day:
Seeing this kid smile when he took a bite...Totally worth it.

Super Easy Recipe for German Pancakes I used this morning:

  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • Place the eggs, milk, flour and salt in a blender; cover and process until smooth. Pour the butter into an ungreased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish; add the batter. Bake, uncovered, at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes.
