Living fashion fantasies through others...

When I was in junior high I thought it would be fun to be a fashion designer and perhaps even model some of my own clothing. I used to be tall... until I stopped growing at 14. I think in a health class in 7th grade I may have uttered that dream out loud to a class to only get snickers and joking comments from some of the class clowns in the class.

Needless to say, I never admitted that dream out-loud again...not to mention- sewing nor height ever entered into my life. But I still appreciate fashion. And I love taking photos of it wherever I can.

The artistic element of expressing something in 3D is exciting.

Here are just a few photos like I promised from the Fashion Show but you can see more over here at TrulyModlyDeeply if you want some more.

SEVEN days of summer.

El Salvador trip Summer 2011

Oh how I love summer... You will have to excuse my excessive use of beach photos but I have been editing my El Salvador trip so this week I have been totally on a beach kick...but did you know that there are only SEVEN days left until the official day of Fall??? Despite my excitement for Fall (my favorite season) I still feel that Summer deserves attention... it's like skipping Thanksgiving and going right to Christmas...no fair.

So, I checked  SUMMER LIST... I still have a few things I need to do in one week. So, I think it is time to get cracking on crossing off the rest of the list. So, for the next SEVEN days...SEVEN days (why am I getting the creeps saying that...I feel like it's from a scary movie...help me out what movie) I am going to make it a point to live each and every day of the summer to the fullest. Starting now...better hop off.
Happy Friday!!

Dear Beach- I miss you.

El Salvador Summer 2011

Dear Beach- I miss you.
Today all I feel like doing is playing on the beach. But I can't. I live in Idaho. Not only that, but I have a million things to  catch up on with my private practice, organizing the home, and photography deadlines! Ahh. But I am not in the mood to do any of that...nope just build sandcastles.
Can I just pack up and run away with my family to the beach house for one day... without tv,  phone, emails... just the beach? A girl can dream right? Now, back to editing photos...got a deadline.

I heart New York.

I will never forget this moment....I was on my way to Gender Studies class at the U of U when I heard about the Twin Towers. Students in  disbelief gathered around the television sets to watch the horrific event. I will never forget that moment. The entire nation gathering together thinking and praying for the victims...such a feeling of unity and coming together...it seems like we forget so quickly.

Last night, I was looking back through photos of our time in New York last Christmas. Oh how I LOVE that city. In memory of those victims here are a few of us in the city. (Mister and I were celebrating 7 years of Marriage with a date night in the City! I can't believe...SEVEN YEARS.)
Did I mention that I love that city?

I bet you are wondering what kind of sunglasses those are... they are rad huh? Check out Proof Sunglasses- they have more of us on their blog here!

EXTRA TIME.

Watching airplanes

I am usually the person frantically scrambling out the door with a million things in my arms and in a *mad rush* to get to where I am going... usually 5 minutes late. :/
Last weekend was different. I was determined to enjoy the usually dreaded experience... flying by myself with a toddler! Ahhh! So, this time- I planned ahead. I arrived at the airport EARLY. I know most of you are thinking- *duh* no brainer. But I got there REALLY EARLY... like two hours early.
Who would have thought the airport can be so exciting! Instead of dashing to the gate, we just moseed our way around the airport, exploring all our surroundings and people along the way. We had time to stop and get a drink and a McGriddle (my very first one I might add) and even waited patiently as they took their time to cook it. {normally we would be skipping breakfast all together!}
Making our way to the kid table, we plopped down and slowly ate our breakfast while we enjoyed the view of airplanes taking off and landing. I took this opportunity to be fully attentive and present- exploring all the exciting new things an airport has to offer. I was quite amazed how well my little guy did when he was given a little attention and freedom to explore.
No tantrums. No crying. No running away. This experience could have been considered a weed...I decided to make it a wish.
KEY: Allow for EXTRA time. A lot of EXTRA time.
xx- Cristi
